I decided to go with autism for my topic. I am very interested in autism because I am a special education major and have a passion for helping people with disabilities. I chose autism over down syndrome because I have already done studies on down syndrome. I want to learn more about autism and I chose to focus in on the early signs/indications that a young child, around the age or two or three, would show.
I had a good discussion with group about their topics as well. Everyone seemed to have good ideas. Stephanie is also doing autism, which is cool because we are both special education majors! She is going a different route than me though, so it will be interesting to see where she goes with it.

Journal 2
Ideas: fashion, cosmetology, special education, autism, down syndrome
I'm really interested in fashion, beauty, and cosmetology. I would really like to research something along those lines, but I don't know what question I would derive from that.
My major is special education. I'm very interested in disabilities like autism and down syndrome. Maybe I could choose one of those topics and study behavior of these children or parenting of a child with a disability. I could also go the direction of symptoms and causes of autism or down syndrome. A lot of this would be tings I've already researched or learned a little bit about in my Special Education 201 class. I'm leaning more toward the beauty side because I've never researched about it, but it's been a passion of mine since I was little. I've always wanted to be a cosmetologist. I wonder how the salaries of a teacher versus a beautician would differ. I know they're both not high in salary, but with cosmetology you can go many different routes.

Journal 1
I like the way we are graded for English 104 in the fact that all of our points add up to 100%. That makes it very straight forward. I think our projects sound interesting and I feel like I have a good idea of what to expect for this class after going over the syllabus in class. Even though the attendance policy is strict, I appreciate the bonus 2 points we will receive if we attend all classes. I really enjoyed doing conferences last semester and am looking forward to them again this semester because it helps me talk to the professor about my work and get some insight.
